A new month always feels like a fresh start. I saw an Instagram post this week that said "June 1st falling on a Monday just feels right", and I couldn't agree more. I don't think everything magically changes when the calendar flips, but it gives us a chance to decide who we want to be moving forward.
The Myth of Feeling Ready
One of the biggest mistakes we make is believing that confidence comes before action. We tell ourselves we’ll start when we feel more prepared, when we have more time, when we know exactly what we’re doing, or when we’re no longer afraid.
But that’s rarely how growth works.
Every meaningful thing I’ve done in my life started with uncertainty. I’ve never felt completely ready. Starting Well & Worth It felt scary. Launching a newsletter felt scary. Recording a podcast felt scary (still working on that LOL). Reaching out to brands and putting myself out every single day has felt scary. There were plenty of moments where I questioned whether I was ready for the next step.
The truth is, confidence isn’t something you find before you begin. Confidence is something you build because you begin.
Fear Doesn’t Mean Stop
We often treat fear like a warning sign. If something feels uncomfortable, we assume it’s not the right time. But what if fear isn’t always a sign to stop? What if it’s a sign that you’re standing at the edge of growth?
Most people don’t miss opportunities because they fail. They miss opportunities because they never start. They spend months or years talking themselves out of things that could have changed their lives. They wait for certainty that never comes. The people we admire aren’t fearless. They simply decided that what they wanted was more important than their fear.
A New Month, A New Opportunity
There’s something powerful about a new month. It’s a reminder that we don’t need a new year, a Monday, or perfect circumstances to make a change. We just need a starting point.
Maybe your starting point is signing up for the gym. Maybe it’s applying for the job, starting the business, having the difficult conversation, or finally pursuing the goal that’s been sitting on your heart for months. You don’t have to see the entire path ahead. You only need enough courage to take the next step.
Every expert was once a beginner. Every confident person was once uncertain. Every success story started with someone deciding to begin.
My Word of the Year: Confidence
When I chose "confidence" as my word for 2026, I didn’t choose it because I already felt confident. I chose it because I wanted to become more confident.
What I’ve learned is that confidence isn’t built by thinking about doing hard things. It’s built by doing them. It’s built every time you speak up when you’d rather stay quiet. Every time you try something new. Every time you take a chance on yourself before you have proof that it will work.
Confidence isn’t the absence of fear. It’s the willingness to move forward despite it.
Three Ways to Start Where You Are This Month
At Well & Worth It, I’m a big believer that small actions create big changes. We don’t need a complete life overhaul. We need a next step.
If you’re looking for a place to start this month, try one of these:
1. Choose One Habit, Not Ten
Most people fail because they try to change everything at once. Instead of creating a long list of goals, pick one habit that would make your days feel better.
Maybe that’s a 10-minute walk after dinner. Maybe it’s eating breakfast. Maybe it’s drinking more water or getting to bed 30 minutes earlier. Small, consistent actions build momentum.
2. Focus on Progress, Not Perfection
You don’t need the perfect workout plan, the perfect business idea, or the perfect routine before you begin.
The first workout doesn’t need to be perfect.
The first blog post doesn’t need to be perfect.
The first video doesn’t need to be perfect.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is progress.
3. Take One Brave Step This Week
What’s one thing you’ve been putting off because it feels uncomfortable?
Send the email.
Apply for the opportunity.
Join the gym.
Sign up for the class.
Start the project.
Have the conversation.
Whatever it is, commit to taking one brave step this week. Confidence grows every time we prove to ourselves that we can do hard things.
At Well & Worth It, I believe confidence is built the same way strength is built: one rep, one workout, one choice at a time. You don’t wake up one day feeling confident. You become confident by keeping promises to yourself.
So as we step into this new month, ask yourself:
What’s one small step I can take today toward the life I want tomorrow?
Then take it. Because confidence, growth, and becoming who you’re meant to be are always well & worth it.
